This subject has been getting such nationwide importance during the last 15 years that the well-known International Standards Organization (ISO), started in 2005 formal work for the creation of a new voluntary international standard - ISO 26000 on Social Responsibility, non-certifiable in its first version, which will be ready in 2009. SPE is participating in the Grupo Industria, representing ADS Mexicana, S.A. of C.V., within the Comité Espejo Mexicano, that along with other 55 countries of the 5 continents are working in the preparation of such standard.

In parallel and also with our participation, the Mexican Institute of Standardization and Certification (Instituto Mexicano de Normalizacion y Certificacion - IMNC) continues to work on the Voluntary Mexican Standards on Social Responsibility (Norma Mexicana Voluntaria sobre Responsabilidad Social) which is focused on educating companies on social responsibility.

In the same way, the Mexican Center for Philanthropy (Centro Mexicano de Filantropía - CEMEFI) has been promoting during the last 10 years social responsibility among the companies. This organization grants the "ESR" acknowledgment which was awarded to 174 Mexican companies of different sizes and activities during its 8th awarding ceremony held on February, 2007.

Continue with the process of documentation and evaluation so that companies can compete to obtain the Socially Responsible Company acknowledgment.

Follow up on the procedures for continuous improvement in the company for the purpose of receiving the recognition the subsequent years.

Identify, evaluate, and recommend organizations and programs that are ad hoc for the benefit of the community.

Evaluate periodically the real impact of these programs both inside and outside the company, with five products registered in the Mexican Institute of Intellectual Property to this date.
